Christmas Eve is the most popular day of the year for men to pop the question.
A survey by chillisauce.co.uk found that 24% of men will ask the big question on Christmas Eve but the results also show they could be asking too early.
The survey, which quizzed 7,000 Brits, found that 22% of women would rather their partner propose on Valentine's Day, 6% would opt for a Halloween proposal and 20% of sentimental women hope to get engaged on the anniversary of the day they met their partner.
It was also revealed that 51% of women don't like men to beat around the bush with proposals, instead preferring them to cut to the chase with a simple '"Will you marry me?"
And 15% think technology should be used for the proposal, 29% of those specifying email.
Text message was also a popular answer, scoring 27% of the vote. Social media scored 27% and over the phone came in last place with 19% of the vote.
When it came to how many times men had proposed, 17% of them who had already proposed had done so five times or more and 28% chose to ask the big question abroad as opposed to at home.
It seems men like to be traditional, with a whopping 65% claiming that they would say no if proposed to by their girlfriend.
